On May 8, 1945, all the world's media spread the news "Germany capitulated. End of the war in Europe." A few hours earlier, Germany had signed the act of surrender. Churchill, Truman and other world leaders address their citizens in radio messages and speeches. The streets of London, New York, Paris, Sydney and other cities around the world fill with celebrating residents.
